Saline Farmers Market...Year Round

What's happening on the Saline Farmers Market!

Saline's successful mid-week market ends on Tuesday, September 25 for the season.  The weather this year was extremely changeable with hot, hot temps during the summer all the way to a cool, windy, stormy days during September.  The vendors are so loyal that of course they were there every Tuesday to offer their wonderful, fresh, local veggies, fruit, eggs, meat, delicious baked goods, plants, flowers, and handcrafted items.  A thank you goes out to all of the loyal customers.

Saturday (Summer) Farmers Market is still going strong from 8am-noon Downtown on S. Ann Arbor St.  There is still so much to choose from including a huge variety of veggies, apples, apple cider, eggs, meat, honey, delectable baked goods, mums of all colors, cuts flowers, plants, and beautiful handcrafted items.

Saline's Saturday (Winter) Market begins November 3 (skip Nov. 10 because of the craft show) and runs through April 27 (skip March 16 - Craft Show).  Everyone was amazed last year of how much the Winter Market offered including a nice variety of produce through the entire season (some vendors have hoop houses where they can grow produce year round).  This year there will once again be lots of produce as well as eggs, meat, cheese, baked goods of all kinds, apple cider, honey, jams/jellies and more.  Special offerings for Thanksgiving and Christmas will be handcrafted centerpieces, wreaths, gifts and much more.  We will also have a large variety of handmade items throughout the entire season.

For more information or if you would like to become a vendor visit our website at cityofsaline.org/farmersmarket or call Nancy Crisp, Market Manager at 734 429-3518.

Saline Farmers Market moves to parking lot off of East Henry (behind Mac’s and Murphy's Crossing) this Saturday, August 11, during Summerfest.  There is plenty of parking so come early and buy your produce, baked goods, meat, eggs, coffee, cheese, flowers and maybe even a hand-crafted item.

This is an abundant time of year with plenty of peaches, blueberries, melons, raspberries as well as lots of veggies including fresh sweet corn, tomatoes of all varieties, onions, potatoes, cucumbers, summer squash, eggplant, peppers of all colors, Brussel sprouts, cabbage, leeks, Swiss chard, kale, carrots, radishes, beets, herbs…and I’m sure there are some that I forgot to list.  Come check it out for yourself.

We have baked goods that make your mouth water including breads, muffins, granola, sweet rolls, pepperoni rolls (a favorite of many customers), mini sweet breads, yummy fruit pies, delicious cookies of all kinds and a tasty bread mix.

We have fresh coffee beans (my favorite), fresh delicious eggs, yummy cheese, meat (the sausage is very popular), sweet fresh honey and maple syrup, as well as hand-crafted items including soap made from goat’s milk (very popular with our customers), beautiful wooden bowls and pens, and hand-made aprons of all colors (yes, people still wear aprons).
An assortment of beautiful cut flowers are available.

Also remember to visit our Tuesday Farmers Market located at the Saline Library from 3-7pm.  Even though it has been warm...well maybe some Tuesdays it's been downright hot...our vendors bring so much delicious produce and baked goods as well as hand-crafted items.

Saline Farmers Market - Saturdays and Tuesdays

Saturdays, 8am-noon Downtown on S. Ann Arbor St. and Tuesdays, 3pm-7pm at the Saline District Library.

Corn and tomatoes are in as well as peaches and blueberries...wow, is it almost time to can peaches and freeze corn and blueberries?  How about canning pickles?  Jams and jellies sure are yummy and easy to can and freeze.  There's so many veggies showing up on the vendors' tables...too many to list.  Come see for yourself and buy your favorites.

Baked Goods are a popular destination for our customers, especially yummy bread, muffins, cookies, sweet rolls, pepperoni rolls and the very popular hand made pies.  Granola is also a favorite of many customers.

Linda Conrad of Mama Mofoods brings her delicious hummus in a variety of flavors every other week to the Saturday Market.  Come by for a sample taste.

Also popular items are eggs, meat, coffee, honey and maple syrup - yum!

Hand-crafted items including wooden bowls and pens, jewelry, baskets, soaps and lip balms are also available.  In fact a satisfied customer wrote the following in an email to our vendor Jean and Bethany Slater of Celtic Dairy who make soaps and lip balms: "I bought my first bar of Lavender goat milk soap at the Saline Farmers Market on Tuesday. I have never used such fantastic soap before and I've used a lot of soap in my 50+ years. It makes lots of beautifully scented bubbles but rinses away without any residue.  My old skin is baby soft.  I will be buying more as soon as possible."  Celtic Dairy is at the Saturday and Tuesday Farmers Markets.

There are still plenty of beautiful plants and flowers.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday and/or Tuesday.
