Saline Farmers Market - Saturdays and Tuesdays

Saturdays, 8am-noon Downtown on S. Ann Arbor St. and Tuesdays, 3pm-7pm at the Saline District Library.

Corn and tomatoes are in as well as peaches and blueberries...wow, is it almost time to can peaches and freeze corn and blueberries?  How about canning pickles?  Jams and jellies sure are yummy and easy to can and freeze.  There's so many veggies showing up on the vendors' tables...too many to list.  Come see for yourself and buy your favorites.

Baked Goods are a popular destination for our customers, especially yummy bread, muffins, cookies, sweet rolls, pepperoni rolls and the very popular hand made pies.  Granola is also a favorite of many customers.

Linda Conrad of Mama Mofoods brings her delicious hummus in a variety of flavors every other week to the Saturday Market.  Come by for a sample taste.

Also popular items are eggs, meat, coffee, honey and maple syrup - yum!

Hand-crafted items including wooden bowls and pens, jewelry, baskets, soaps and lip balms are also available.  In fact a satisfied customer wrote the following in an email to our vendor Jean and Bethany Slater of Celtic Dairy who make soaps and lip balms: "I bought my first bar of Lavender goat milk soap at the Saline Farmers Market on Tuesday. I have never used such fantastic soap before and I've used a lot of soap in my 50+ years. It makes lots of beautifully scented bubbles but rinses away without any residue.  My old skin is baby soft.  I will be buying more as soon as possible."  Celtic Dairy is at the Saturday and Tuesday Farmers Markets.

There are still plenty of beautiful plants and flowers.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday and/or Tuesday.

Beginning Saturday June 9 the Saline Farmers Market is accepting the Bridge Card for purchases at the market.

Patrons with a state issued Bridge Card can visit the Bridge Card booth at the Saturday Saline Farmers Market to get tokens in $1 increments to use for market purchases.  The amount requested will be subtracted from their Bridge Card and market tokens will be issued to use at participating market vendors stalls.  Look for a “Bridge Card Tokens Accepted Here” sign in vendors stalls which will identify those who accept the Bridge Card tokens.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) / Bridge Card provides financial assistance for food purchasing to low- and no-income people and families living in the U.S.  It is a federal aid program, administered by the Food and Nutrition Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, but benefits are distributed by the individual U.S. states. It is historically and commonly known as the Food Stamp Program.

Items that can be purchased with the Bridge Card are all foods items as long as they are not hot, prepared foods that are meant to be eaten immediately.  Also included are seeds and plants that produce food.

Tokens can be redeemed at the Tuesday Saline Farmers Market but can only be purchased at the Saturday Saline Farmers Market.

We are very excited to add the SNAP program to the Farmers Market this year.  This program will provide low income families the opportunity to buy local, fresh food, attract more customers to our market and become one of the many Farmers Markets who are participating in this program.
